[724] Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling among the Sakyans, where there was a town of the Sakyans named Khomadussa.
Then, in the morning, the Blessed One dressed and, taking bowl and robe, entered Khomadussa for alms.
Now on that occasion the brahmin householders of Khomadussa had assembled in the council hall on some business or other, and the sky was drizzling down drop by drop.
Then the Blessed One approached that council hall.
The brahmin householders of Khomadussa saw the Blessed One coming while still far off; having seen him, they said this: "Who are these shaveling ascetics? And who are they, that they should know the rule of the assembly (sabhādhamma)?"
