[746] Then the Venerable Vaṅgīsa extolled the Blessed One in his presence with fitting verses:
"Today, on the fifteenth day, for purity,
five hundred bhikkhus have assembled—
cutters of fetters (saññojana) and bonds,
untroubled seers who have destroyed renewed existence.
Just as a wheel-turning king, surrounded by his ministers,
travels all around this earth bounded by the ocean,
so upon the victor in battle, the unsurpassed caravan leader,
the disciples wait in attendance—possessed of the threefold true knowledge (tevijjā), who have left Death behind.
All are sons of the Blessed One; no chaff is found here.
I pay homage to the destroyer of the dart of craving (taṇhā), the Kinsman of the Sun."
