[769] Then the deity (devatā) who dwelt in that forest grove, not seeing those bhikkhus, lamenting, at that time spoke this verse: "Today it seems to me like discontent, having seen the many empty seats. Those brilliant speakers, of great learning — where have these disciples of Gotama gone?"
