[774] Then a certain deity (devatā) belonging to the host of the Tāvatiṃsa devas, Jālinī by name, a former consort (purāṇadutiyikā) of the Venerable Anuruddha, approached the Venerable Anuruddha; and having approached, she addressed the Venerable Anuruddha in verse: "Direct your mind (citta) there, where you dwelt in former times — among the Tāvatiṃsa devas, who abound in all sensual pleasures; honored and surrounded by hosts of devas, you will shine."
