[836] On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Rājagaha, in the Veḷuvana (the Bamboo Grove), at the Kalandakanivāpa (the Squirrels' Feeding Ground). Now on that occasion a certain lay follower (upāsaka) gave a robe (cīvara) to the bhikkhunī Cīrā. #1 [Variant:] acchare. 2 The Burmese and European editions read "vippamuttiyāti"; so it is to be understood throughout. 3 The Sinhalese edition reads "vīrāya" [i.e., the bhikkhunī's name as Vīrā].
