[854] "Bhikkhus, that Sakka, lord of the devas, who subsists upon the fruit of his own merit (puñña) while exercising kingship with sovereign lordship over the Tāvatiṃsa devas, will yet be one who speaks in praise of initiative and energy (uṭṭhānavīriya). Here indeed, bhikkhus, this would shine forth: that you, having gone forth in a Dhamma and Discipline (dhammavinaya) so well proclaimed (svākkhāta), should exert yourselves, strive, and endeavor for the attainment of what has not yet been attained, for the achievement of what has not yet been achieved, for the realization of what has not yet been realized."
