[872] [Mātali:] "Fools would break out all the more if there were no one to hold them in check; therefore with severe punishment the wise one should restrain the fool." #1 M. (Burmese), Yu. (European) editions read "dubbalyā no". #2 M. reads "pakujjheyyuṃ" ("would grow angrier still").
