[880] When this was said, bhikkhus, Sakka, lord of devas, spoke this verse: "This alone, I think, is the checking of the fool: that one who, knowing the other to be enraged, is mindful and grows calm." Now when the verse had been spoken by Sakka, lord of devas, bhikkhus, the devas applauded, but the asuras were silent. Then, bhikkhus, Sakka, lord of devas, said this to Vepacitti, lord of asuras: "Speak a verse, Vepacitti."
