[901] Then, bhikkhus, those seers (isi), virtuous and of good character — just as a strong man might extend his bent arm or bend his extended arm — vanished from the leaf huts on the shore of the ocean and appeared in the presence of Sambara, lord of the asuras (asurinda). Then, bhikkhus, those seers, virtuous and of good character, addressed Sambara, lord of the asuras, in verse:
"The seers who have come to Sambara
ask for the gift of safety (abhayadakkhiṇā):
you may do as you please, giving them
either danger or safety."
