[93] Then the Blessed One addressed that deity (devatā) in verse: "For some give while settled in unrighteousness, having beaten, slain, and then caused sorrow; that offering (dakkhiṇā) — tearful-faced, fraught with violence — does not match the worth of what is given righteously.
