[949] Then, bhikkhus, Sakka, lord of the devas, having sat down on his own seat, conciliating the Tāvatiṃsa devas, on that occasion spoke these verses: "I am not one whose mind (citta) is easily afflicted, nor am I easily drawn by the whirlpool; I am never angry for long, anger does not persist in me. When angry, I do not speak harshly, nor do I proclaim my own virtues; I hold myself well in check, clearly seeing my own good." The Māyāsutta, the third.
