[955] Bhikkhus, once in the past, Sakka, lord of the devas, while conciliating the devas of Tāvatiṃsa in the Sudhammā assembly hall, on that occasion recited this verse: "Let anger (kodha) come under your control; and let not your friendships decay. Do not blame one who is blameless, and do not utter divisive speech (pesuṇa). Then anger crushes the evil person, even as a mountain." The Akkodha Sutta, the Fifth.
