[168] Now on that occasion a certain bhikkhu was standing within hearing of the Blessed One, listening in. The Blessed One saw that bhikkhu standing there listening in, and having seen him, said to that bhikkhu: "Did you hear this exposition of the Dhamma (dhammapariyāya), bhikkhu?"
"Yes, venerable sir."
"Learn this exposition of the Dhamma, bhikkhu; master this exposition of the Dhamma, bhikkhu; remember this exposition of the Dhamma, bhikkhu. This exposition of the Dhamma, bhikkhu, is connected with the goal, fundamental to the holy life (brahmacariya)."
