[289] "Here now, venerable ones, there is this declaration (veyyākaraṇa) and yet the non-attainment of these states — how is this, friends?"
"We are liberated by wisdom (paññāvimuttā), friend Susima."
"I do not understand in detail the meaning of what the venerable ones have stated in brief. It would be good if the venerable ones would speak in such a way that I might understand in detail the meaning of what the venerable ones have stated in brief."
"Whether you understand, friend Susima, or whether you do not understand, still we are liberated by wisdom."
