[446] Then it occurred to the Blessed One: "These thirty bhikkhus from Pāvā (Pāveyyakā) are all forest dwellers (āraññikā), all almsfood eaters (piṇḍapātikā), all rag-robe wearers (paṃsukūlikā), all users of just the three robes (tecīvarikā), yet all are still with fetters (saṃyojana). What if I were to teach them the Dhamma in such a way that, right on these very seats, their minds (citta) might be liberated from the taints (āsava) through non-clinging?" Then the Blessed One addressed the bhikkhus: "Bhikkhus!" "Venerable sir," those bhikkhus replied to the Blessed One.
