[702] This is what the Blessed One said. … the Teacher [said further]: "How this bhikkhu shines indeed, with a mind become upright; detached, unfettered, quenched (nibbuto) through not clinging, he bears his final body, having conquered Māra together with his mount."¹ The Fifth [Sutta]. Variant readings [Siam Raṭṭha footnotes]: ¹ M. Yu. read *appena thāmasā*. ² M. Yu. read *sabbadukkhappamocanaṃ*. ³ M. reads *savāhinin ti* ("together with his army").
