[704] The Blessed One saw the Venerable Lakuṇṭakabhaddiya coming from afar. Having seen him, he addressed the bhikkhus: "Bhikkhus, do you see that bhikkhu coming — ugly, unsightly, dwarfish, an object of contempt among the bhikkhus?"
"Yes, venerable sir."
"Bhikkhus, that bhikkhu is of great psychic power (mahiddhika), of great might. It is not easy to find a meditative attainment (samāpatti) that has not already been attained by that bhikkhu. And he dwells having realized for himself with direct knowledge (abhiññā), in this very life, that unsurpassed consummation of the holy life (brahmacariya) for the sake of which clansmen rightly go forth from the home life into homelessness, having entered upon it."
