[726] The Blessed One saw those bhikkhus coming while they were still far off. Having seen them, he addressed the bhikkhus: "Bhikkhus, do you see those two bhikkhus, companions, coming — the pupils (saddhivihārino) of Mahākappina?"
"Yes, venerable sir."
"Those bhikkhus, bhikkhus, are of great spiritual power, of great might. And not easily found is that attainment (samāpatti) which has not been previously attained by those bhikkhus. And that unsurpassed goal of the holy life (brahmacariya), for the sake of which clansmen rightly go forth from the household life into homelessness — that they dwell in, having realized it for themselves with direct knowledge (abhiññā) in this very life, having entered upon it."
