[99] When this was said, the Venerable Sāriputta remained silent. A second time the Blessed One addressed the Venerable Sāriputta … A second time the Venerable Sāriputta remained silent. A third time the Blessed One addressed the Venerable Sāriputta: "Sāriputta, this was said in the Ajita Questions (Ajitapañha) in the Pārāyana:
"Those who have comprehended the Dhamma,
and the manifold trainees (sekkha) here —
being judicious, dear sir, when asked,
tell me the conduct of these."
"How, Sāriputta, should the meaning of this brief statement be understood in detail?" When this was said, a third time the Venerable Sāriputta remained silent.
