[226] Then the Venerable Dāsaka approached the elder bhikkhus; having approached, he said to the elder bhikkhus: "Friends, the bhikkhu Khemaka says this: 'Friend, I am not bearing up, I am not getting better; strong painful feelings (vedanā) are increasing in me, not decreasing; their increase is evident, not their decrease.'"
"Come, friend Dāsaka, approach the bhikkhu Khemaka; having approached, say to the bhikkhu Khemaka thus: 'Friend Khemaka, the elders say this to you: These five aggregates subject to clinging, friend, have been declared by the Blessed One, namely: the form aggregate subject to clinging, the feeling aggregate subject to clinging, the perception aggregate subject to clinging, the volitional-formations aggregate subject to clinging, the consciousness aggregate subject to clinging. Does the Venerable Khemaka regard anything among these five aggregates subject to clinging as self or as belonging to self (attaniya)?'"
"Yes, friends," the Venerable Dāsaka replied to the elder bhikkhus, and he approached the Venerable Khemaka … "Friend Khemaka, the elders say this to you: These five aggregates subject to clinging, friend, have been declared by the Blessed One, namely: the form aggregate subject to clinging … the consciousness aggregate subject to clinging. Does the Venerable Khemaka regard anything among these five aggregates subject to clinging as self or as belonging to self?"
