[272] Bhikkhus, just as in the autumn season, when the sky is pure and free of clouds, the sun, ascending into the firmament, having dispelled all the darkness pervading space, shines and blazes and radiates — even so, bhikkhus, the perception of impermanence (aniccasaññā), when developed and made much of, exhausts all sensual lust (kāmarāga), exhausts all lust for form (rūparāga), exhausts all lust for existence (bhavarāga), exhausts all ignorance (avijjā), and uproots all the conceit "I am" (asmimāna).
