[445] Sāvatthī. "Bhikkhus, when what exists, by clinging to what, by adhering to what, does such a view (diṭṭhi) as this arise: 'Winds do not blow, rivers do not flow, pregnant women do not give birth, the moon and sun do not rise or depart, but stand steady as a pillar'?"

"Bhikkhus, when form (rūpa) exists, by clinging to form, by adhering to form, such a view arises: 'Winds do not blow … they stand steady as a pillar.' When feeling (vedanā) exists … when perception (saññā) exists … when volitional formations (saṅkhārā) exist … when consciousness (viññāṇa) exists, by clinging to consciousness, by adhering to consciousness, such a view arises: 'Winds do not blow … they stand steady as a pillar.'"
