"Bhikkhus, whatever is the arising, the persistence … [that is: the production and the manifestation] of the perception of forms (rūpasaññā) … [this is the arising of suffering (dukkha), the persistence of diseases,] the manifestation of aging and death. … [The same refrain applies to the perception of sounds, of odours, of tastes, of tangibles, elided in the Pali.] Whatever is the arising, the persistence, the production, and the manifestation of the perception of dhammas (dhammasaññā) — this is the arising of suffering, the persistence of diseases, the manifestation of aging and death."
