[56] At Sāvatthī. There indeed …. Bhikkhus, one who does not directly know form (rūpa), does not fully understand it, does not become dispassionate toward it, and does not abandon it, is incapable of the destruction of suffering (dukkha). One who does not directly know feeling (vedanā), does not fully understand it, does not become dispassionate toward it, and does not abandon it, is incapable of the destruction of suffering. One who does not directly know perception … one who does not directly know volitional formations, does not fully understand them, does not become dispassionate toward them, and does not abandon them, is incapable of the destruction of suffering. One who does not directly know consciousness, does not fully understand it, does not become dispassionate toward it, and does not abandon it, is incapable of the destruction of suffering.
