[227] "Bhikkhus, I shall teach you new and old kamma, the cessation of kamma, and the way of practice leading to the cessation of kamma. Listen to that and attend carefully; I shall speak.
"And what, bhikkhus, is old kamma? The eye, bhikkhus, should be seen as old kamma, fashioned (abhisaṅkhata), brought into being by volition (abhisañcetayita), a basis for what is to be felt (vedaniya) … The tongue should be seen as old kamma, fashioned, brought into being by volition, a basis for what is to be felt … The mind (mano) should be seen as old kamma, fashioned, brought into being by volition, a basis for what is to be felt. This, bhikkhus, is called old kamma."
