[259] "Bhikkhus, whatever is not-self (anattā) — regarding that, desire (chanda) should be abandoned by you; lust (rāga) should be abandoned; desire-and-lust (chandarāga) should be abandoned. And what, bhikkhus, is not-self? The eye, bhikkhus, is not-self — regarding that, desire should be abandoned by you; lust should be abandoned; desire-and-lust should be abandoned. … The nose is not-self — regarding that, desire should be abandoned by you; lust should be abandoned; desire-and-lust should be abandoned. The tongue is not-self — regarding that, desire should be abandoned by you; lust should be abandoned; desire-and-lust should be abandoned. … The mind (mano) is not-self — regarding that, desire should be abandoned by you; lust should be abandoned; desire-and-lust should be abandoned.
