[447] And what, bhikkhus, is carnal rapture (sāmisā pīti)? There are, bhikkhus, these five cords of sensual pleasure (kāmaguṇā). What five? Forms cognizable by the eye that are wished for, desired, agreeable, pleasing, connected with sensual pleasure, provocative of lust … tangibles cognizable by the body that are wished for, desired, agreeable, pleasing, connected with sensual pleasure, provocative of lust. These, bhikkhus, are the five cords of sensual pleasure. Whatever rapture (pīti) arises in dependence on these five cords of sensual pleasure — this, bhikkhus, is called carnal rapture.
