[532] Then Sakka, lord of the devas, together with eighty thousand deities, approached the Venerable Mahāmoggallāna; having approached, he paid homage to the Venerable Mahāmoggallāna and stood to one side. As he stood to one side, the Venerable Mahāmoggallāna said this to Sakka, lord of the devas: "Good indeed, lord of the devas, is the going for refuge (saraṇagamana) to the Buddha. Because of going for refuge to the Buddha, some beings here, with the breakup of the body, after death, are reborn in a good destination, a heavenly world. They surpass the other devas in ten respects: in divine life span, in divine … in divine tactile objects. Good indeed, lord of the devas, is the going for refuge to the Dhamma. … Good indeed, lord of the devas, is the going for refuge to the Saṅgha. Because of going for refuge to the Saṅgha, some beings here, with the breakup of the body, after death, are reborn in a good destination, a heavenly world. They surpass the other devas in ten respects: in divine life span, in divine beauty, in divine happiness, in divine fame, in divine sovereignty, in divine forms, in divine sounds, in divine odors, in divine tastes, and in divine tactile objects."
