[661] "Venerable sir, once in the past, four teachers holding different views (nānādiṭṭhikā), of different persuasions, of different inclinations, came to take up residence in that guest house. One teacher was of such doctrine, of such view: 'There is nothing given, nothing offered, nothing sacrificed; there is no fruit or result of good and bad actions; there is no this world, no other world; there is no mother, no father; there are no beings spontaneously reborn (opapātika); there are no ascetics and brahmins in the world who are of right conduct and right practice, who, having themselves realized this world and the other world by direct knowledge, make them known.'"
