[755] "Being asked, 'How is it, revered lady — does the Tathāgata (tathāgata) exist after death?' you say, 'This, great king, has not been declared (abyākata) by the Blessed One: "The Tathāgata exists after death."' Being asked, 'Then how is it, revered lady — does the Tathāgata not exist after death?' you say, 'This too, great king, has not been declared by the Blessed One: "The Tathāgata does not exist after death."' Being asked, 'How is it, revered lady — does the Tathāgata both exist and not exist after death?' you say, 'This, great king, has not been declared by the Blessed One: "The Tathāgata both exists and does not exist after death."' Being asked, 'Then how is it, revered lady — does the Tathāgata neither exist nor not exist after death?' you say, 'This too, great king, has not been declared by the Blessed One: "The Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death."' What now, revered lady, is the cause, what is the reason, why this has not been declared by the Blessed One?"
