[81] Furthermore, Upavāṇa, having cognized a mental phenomenon (dhamma) with the mind (mano), a bhikkhu is one who experiences the mental phenomenon and experiences lust (rāga) for the mental phenomenon; and, there being lust within him regarding mental phenomena, he understands: "There is lust within me regarding mental phenomena." Since, Upavāṇa, having cognized a mental phenomenon with the mind, a bhikkhu is one who experiences the mental phenomenon and experiences lust for the mental phenomenon, and, there being lust within him regarding mental phenomena, he understands: "There is lust within me regarding mental phenomena" — in this way too, Upavāṇa, the Dhamma is directly visible … to be personally experienced by the wise.
