[1449] "Here, venerable sir, when King Pasenadi of Kosala wishes to go out to the pleasure-garden grounds, we prepare those riding elephants of King Pasenadi of Kosala, and then we seat those wives of King Pasenadi of Kosala who are dear and beloved to him — one in front and one behind. The scent of those sisters, venerable sir, is like that of a casket of perfume at the very moment it is opened — such is it with royal ladies adorned with perfume. The bodily touch of those sisters, venerable sir, is like that of a tuft of kapok-down or a tuft of cotton-down — such is it with royal ladies who live in comfort. Now on that occasion, venerable sir, the elephant must be guarded, those sisters must be guarded, and we ourselves must be guarded."
