[1453] "You, chamberlains (thapati), are endowed with unwavering confidence (aveccappasāda) in the Buddha: 'Thus indeed is that Blessed One … teacher of devas and humans, the Buddha, the Blessed One.' Likewise in the Dhamma … in the Saṅgha …. Moreover, whatever gift (deyyadhamma) there may be in your family, all of it is shared without reservation with those who are virtuous and of good character. What do you think, chamberlains? How many people are there among the Kosalans who are your equals, that is to say, in giving and in the sharing of gifts?"
