[1461] Furthermore, householders, a noble disciple (ariyasāvaka) reflects thus: 'If someone were to engage in conduct with my wives, that would not be dear or agreeable to me. And if I were to engage in conduct with the wives of another, that would not be dear or agreeable to the other either. A thing that is not dear or agreeable to me is not dear or agreeable to the other either. How could I impose upon another a thing that is not dear or agreeable to me?' Having reflected thus, he himself abstains from sexual misconduct (kāmesu micchācāra), he encourages others to abstain from sexual misconduct, and he speaks in praise of abstinence from sexual misconduct. Thus this bodily conduct of his is purified in three respects.
