[387] "Suppose, friends, a king or a king's chief minister had a wardrobe chest full of cloths of various colors. Whatever pair of cloths he might wish to put on in the morning, that very pair of cloths he would put on in the morning; whatever pair of cloths he might wish to put on at midday, that very pair of cloths he would put on at midday; whatever pair of cloths he might wish to put on in the evening, that very pair of cloths he would put on in the evening. In just the same way, friends, among these seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga), in whichever factor of awakening I wish to dwell in the morning, in that very factor of awakening I dwell in the morning; in whichever factor of awakening I wish to dwell at midday, in that very factor of awakening I dwell at midday; in whichever factor of awakening I wish to dwell in the evening, in that very factor of awakening I dwell in the evening."
