[568] Then, in the morning, a number of bhikkhus, having dressed and taken their bowls and robes, entered Sāvatthī for alms. (As in the Pariyāya Sutta.) "Bhikkhus, when wanderers of other sects (aññatitthiyā paribbājakā) speak thus, they should be addressed thus: 'Friends, on the occasion when the mind (citta) is sluggish, which factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga) is it not the time to develop on that occasion? Which factors of awakening is it the time to develop on that occasion? And, friends, on the occasion when the mind is restless, which factors of awakening is it not the time to develop on that occasion? Which factors of awakening is it the time to develop on that occasion?' Being asked thus, bhikkhus, the wanderers of other sects will not be able to explain, and further, they will fall into vexation. For what reason? Because, bhikkhus, that is not within their domain. Bhikkhus, I do not see anyone in this world with its devas, with its Māras, with its Brahmās, in this generation with its ascetics and brahmins, with its devas and humans, who could satisfy the mind with an answer to these questions, except the Tathāgata, or a disciple of the Tathāgata, or one who has heard it from here."
