[730] "And here, Sāriputta, you have no knowledge encompassing the minds of others (cetopariyañāṇa) with regard to the Arahants, the Perfectly Enlightened Ones (sammāsambuddha) of the past, the future, and the present. Why then, Sāriputta, have you uttered this lofty, bull-like utterance (āsabhivācā), taken up this categorical stance, and roared this lion's roar (sīhanāda): 'Venerable sir, I have such confidence in the Blessed One that there has not been, there will not be, and there does not now exist another ascetic or brahmin more knowing than the Blessed One with respect to full awakening'?"
"Venerable sir, I have no knowledge encompassing the minds of others with regard to the Arahants, the Perfectly Enlightened Ones of the past, the future, and the present; but this has been known by me by inference from the Dhamma (dhammanvaya)."
