Suttapiṭaka · Saṁyuttanikāya · Mahāvaggasaṁyutta · Vol. 19 · Section 834

[834] "Bhikkhus, those for whom you have compassion, and those who would think you worth listening to — whether friends or colleagues, relatives or blood-kin — they should be exhorted by you, bhikkhus, to the development of the four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna); they should be settled in it and established in it. In which four? Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu dwells contemplating the body in the body, ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world. In feelings (vedanā) … in the mind (citta) … he dwells contemplating dhammas in dhammas, ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world. Bhikkhus, those for whom you have compassion, and those who would think you worth listening to — whether friends or colleagues, relatives or blood-kin — they should be exhorted by you, bhikkhus, to the development of these four establishments of mindfulness; they should be settled in it and established in it."
