[865] And what, bhikkhus, is the faculty of faith (saddhindriyaṃ)? Here, bhikkhus, a noble disciple (ariyasāvaka) is one with faith (saddhā); he places faith in the awakening of the Tathāgata thus: 'Indeed, that Blessed One is an arahant, a perfectly enlightened one, accomplished in true knowledge (vijjā) and conduct, fortunate, knower of the world, unsurpassed trainer of persons to be tamed, teacher of devas and humans, enlightened, blessed.' This, bhikkhus, is called the faculty of faith.
