[893] Bhikkhus, it is because these five faculties (indriya) have been developed and cultivated that a bhikkhu, with the destruction of the taints (āsava), realizes for himself with direct knowledge (abhiññā), in this very life, the taintless liberation of mind (cetovimutti) and liberation by wisdom (paññāvimutti), and having entered upon it, dwells therein.
The Mudutara Chapter, the second, is concluded.
Its summary verse (uddāna):
The Acquisition and¹ the three In Brief,²
the three others In Detail³;
The One Practising, the Peaceful,⁴
and this, the Destruction of the Taints.
