[942] And what, bhikkhus, is the pain faculty (dukkhindriya)? Whatever bodily suffering (dukkha) there is, whatever bodily discomfort — painful, uncomfortable feeling (vedanā) born of body-contact — this is called, bhikkhus, the pain faculty.
