[356] When it is a seed, and he perceives it as a seed, if he cuts it or has it cut, breaks it or has it broken, cooks it or has it cooked, there is an offense entailing expiation (pācittiya).
When it is a seed, and he is in doubt, if he cuts it or has it cut, breaks it or has it broken, cooks it or has it cooked, there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa).
When it is a seed, and he perceives it as not a seed, if he cuts it or has it cut, breaks it or has it broken, cooks it or has it cooked, there is no offense.
When it is not a seed, and he perceives it as a seed, there is an offense of wrong-doing.
When it is not a seed, and he is in doubt, there is an offense of wrong-doing.
When it is not a seed, and he perceives it as not a seed, there is no offense.
