[601] A fully ordained one (upasampanna), desiring to frighten one not fully ordained (anupasampanna), presents a form, or a sound, or a smell, or a taste, or a tangible; whether the other is frightened or is not frightened, there is an offense of wrong-doing (dukkaṭa). He tells of a wilderness perilous with thieves, or a wilderness perilous with wild beasts, or a wilderness perilous with demons (pisāca); whether the other is frightened or is not frightened, there is an offense of wrong-doing.
