[775] There is no offense (anāpatti): if he makes it to the proper measure; if he makes it smaller than the measure; if, having obtained one made by another that exceeds the measure, he cuts it down and uses it; if he makes it into a canopy, a ground covering, a cloth screen, a mattress, or a pillow; if he is mad; if he is the first offender.
