[91] At that time the Buddha, the Blessed One, was dwelling at Sāvatthī, in the Jeta Grove, in Anāthapiṇḍika's monastery. Then the Blessed One addressed the bhikkhus: "Bhikkhus, I wish to go into seclusion (paṭisallāna) for three months. I am not to be approached by anyone, except by the one bhikkhu who brings in the almsfood (piṇḍapāta)."
"So be it, venerable sir," those bhikkhus replied to the Blessed One; and indeed no one at all approached the Blessed One, except the one bhikkhu who brought in the almsfood.
Now at that time an agreement (katikā) had been made by the Saṅgha at Sāvatthī: "Friends, the Blessed One wishes to go into seclusion for three months. The Blessed One is not to be approached by anyone, except by the one bhikkhu who brings in the almsfood. Whoever approaches the Blessed One shall be made to confess an offense of pācittiya."
