[96] There is no offense: if he makes it after taking a sugata span (sugatavidatthi) from all around an old rug (santhata); if, not obtaining [that much], he makes it after taking a smaller portion; if, not obtaining [any], he makes it without taking [any]; if, having received one made by another, he uses it; if he makes a canopy, a floor covering, a screen-wall, a mattress, or a pillow; for one who is insane; for the first offender (ādikammika).
