Dutiyapaṇṇāsaka

[322] Bhikkhus, evil, unwholesome states (pāpakā akusalā dhammā) arise with a sign (nimitta); they do not arise without a sign. By abandoning that very sign, those evil, unwholesome states thus come to be no more.
