[331] "Bhikkhus, evil, unwholesome states (akusalā dhammā) arise with the conditioned (saṅkhata) as their object; they do not arise with the unconditioned (asaṅkhata) as their object. Through the abandoning of that very conditioned thing, those evil, unwholesome states thus do not come to be." The Sanimittavagga, the third chapter.
