[48] Bhikkhus, just as, of whatever kinds of trees there are, sandalwood is declared the foremost of them, that is, with respect to its pliancy and its wieldiness — even so, bhikkhus, I do not see even one other thing that, when thus developed (bhāvita) and cultivated (bahulīkata), is so pliant and wieldy as the mind (citta). The mind, bhikkhus, when developed and cultivated, is pliant and wieldy.
