[550] (Siam Raṭṭha ¶ ๑๑๑) Then Anāthapiṇḍika the householder approached the Blessed One; having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, he sat down to one side. As he was sitting to one side, the Blessed One said this to Anāthapiṇḍika the householder:
"Householder, when the mind (citta) is corrupted (byāpanna), bodily action too is corrupted, verbal action too is corrupted, mental action too is corrupted. For one whose bodily action is corrupted, whose verbal action is corrupted, whose mental action is corrupted, death is not good, the passing away (kālakiriyā) is not fortunate. Just as, householder, when a peaked house is badly roofed, the roof-peak too is ruined, the rafters too are ruined, the wall too is ruined; even so, householder, when the mind is corrupted … death is not good, the passing away is not fortunate.
"Householder, when the mind is uncorrupted, bodily action too is uncorrupted, verbal action too is uncorrupted, mental action too is uncorrupted. For one whose bodily action is uncorrupted, whose verbal action is uncorrupted, whose mental action is uncorrupted, death is good, the passing away is fortunate. Just as, householder, when a peaked house is well roofed, the roof-peak too is not ruined, the rafters too are not ruined, the wall too is not ruined; even so, householder, when the mind is uncorrupted … death is good, the passing away is fortunate."
